The planning process to initiate the redevelopment of Centerpoint Mall is anticipated to take place over the next five years, with phased redevelopment expected to take place over the following 25 years.

A Phasing Strategy and Implementation Plan will be completed throughout the planning process, which will determine the general order that development will take place through subsequent zoning, subdivision and site plan applications. 

Morguard is committed to sharing information and working with stakeholders throughout the planning process. We will work with our existing retailers to provide opportunities to include them in the future redevelopment.

Approvals

The municipal approvals will be an ongoing process throughout the redevelopment as various phased applications are brought forward.

Redevelopment

Phased redevelopment of the mall will take place in stages over the next five to twenty-five years.

PLANNING PROCESS

The Official Plan Amendment (OPA), which will implement a Site Area Specific Policy (SASP), is the first step in the redevelopment process.

What is a SASP?

The intention of the SASP is to provide a framework for the phased redevelopment of the site over a number of years. This high level framework establishes a general road network, the location of parks and open space and site specific built form, and density and height permissions.

What Comes Next?

The SASP will provide the vision and guidance towards future subdivision, zoning by-law amendment and site plan applications to ensure the comprehensive redevelopment of the site into a complete community. It is through the zoning by-law amendments that specific details regarding building and site design, materials and aesthetics are determined.

Community Consultation Meeting

A virtual Community Consultation Meeting was held on February 15, 2022 from 7-9 p.m. to share information and answer questions regarding the Official Plan Amendment for Centerpoint Mall.
